It will prevent the AE from being boosted to the insta-wipe version, yes. You still need to joust the AE even with proper dispells, it hits quite hard up close.

And you don't need to waste 10 ranks in serene symbol, just enough to have the dispell be higher level than the mob (IIRC 4 ranks gets you enough).

Druid AA, Serene Symbol, dispels it. Will need max ranks in it.
